Cookie Chavis was born with the gift of guitar playing,at the age of 3 his new love for the guitar was formed.He is a self taught musician,who learned from old blues 45's.After getting finished with school,he then took time out to join the elite army's 82nd Airborne,once the years of the Army was over,he then returned back to the guitar.Thats when everything payed off,all the years of "paying his dues"he got a shot to be a full time musician.On the road with C.J.CHENIER right after the death of his father CLIFTON CHENIER.After that he joined forces with the great one BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO,thats where his playing years was payed off.A 7 year run with BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO,landed him stage jams with ERIC CLAPTON,ROBERT CRAY,MICK JAGGER,ACE FREELY OF KISS,ALBERT COLLINS,and a host of others.Now days you can catch cookie on stage with The JaY Chavis Blues Band.
